Fanboys to be Released! (Again!)

Harvey must have heard Obi-Wan's voice telling him the time was finally right to release Fanboy's while working down in his wine cellar, where he ages the film's 35mm prints in white oak barrels. It looks like the release is definitely maybe probably going to happen this time. Said Producer Dana Brunetti: "I'll believe it when I see it."

Latest Trailer

From the Producer at Triggerstreet.com

"Directed by Kyle Newman, the film was originally supposed to premiere on August 17, 2007.

Then April 2008.

Then September 19th 2008, November 26th 2008, and finally February 6th 2009.

The delay doesn't hurt the film's relevance in terms of subject matter. Set in 1998 during the months before the release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, the film's kitsch factor is only enhanced by the passage of time (Palm Pilot visual gags only get funnier with every new iPhone revision). We imagine that Harvey must have heard Obi Wan's voice telling him that the time was finally right to release Fanboy's while he was working down in his wine cellar, where he ages the film's 35mm prints in white oak barrels.

But you can judge for yourself how well the film has matured during the aging process when it has its debut this winter. It looks like the release is definitely maybe probably going to happen this time. Said Producer Dana Brunetti: "I'll believe it when I see it."

For those who have lost track, the original date was pushed back several times for re-shoots, re-edits, and--most recently--no apparent reason at all. Anyone who saw the latest iteration of the film at Comic Con International San Diego can confirm that the cancer plot which was taken out during the long post-production process is back in the film intact. Also intact (it was never removed) is lead actress Kristen Bell's ability to make even a Sith Lord hot under the helmet.
