The Benjamin Franklin True Patriot Act - sponsored by Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich

1777 Jean-Baptiste Greuze portrait of Franklin.

"Same team": Both Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich have their unpopular views, but when it comes down to righting the wrongs of the Bush administration, they would do what's right.

The bill was sponsored by Representatives Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) and Ron Paul (R-Texas), with 27 co-sponsors, all Democrats (except Ron Paul, who has strong Libertarian leanings and frequently votes independently from most other Neo-Conservative Republicans). The intent was to review the USA PATRIOT Act to make sure it does not "inappropriately undermine civil liberties." Its name, as described in Sec. 2, No. 1, refers to Benjamin Franklin's famous quote, "Those who would give up Essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

  1. Good post, although I disagree with your appraisal of the Patriot Act and the quality of thought both Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul subject us to so frequently.

I have to say that I like your blog, and would be happy to exchange links with you if you would be so willing. I have three sites with different team members, and we will put your link up on each one if you would be willing to link each to this blog. You can visit them at Reagan's Brigade, Through Right Eyes and Counter Kos.

You can just leave a comment with a link back to your blog or email me (JDJ) if you want a link on one of those blogs, and I'll put it up in our link section asap.

Keep up the good work. I'm sure I'll be back.
